Can you use HeyGen free videos commercially?
No. HeyGen's terms grant free-plan users only a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license for personal, non-commercial, internal evaluation — free-plan output may not be sold, monetized, used in ads or client work. Commercial rights start at the first paid tier, Creator ($29/month), which also removes the watermark and exports at 1080p. On paid plans you own your output, including for commercial purposes. This makes the free tier a true demo, not a production tier: even setting aside the watermark and 720p cap, the license itself forbids publishing. The two blockers stack — you couldn't ship a free-plan video cleanly even if you wanted the watermark on it.
The upgrade that unlocks commercial use is the same one that removes the watermark: Creator at $29/month. From there, HeyGen's terms state you own the rights in your output. If commercial use is the goal, treat the free plan purely as a script-and-format test. The full watermark and tier detail is in does HeyGen have a watermark and the pricing breakdown.
