Jenni restructured in late 2025 from a two-tier '200 words a day' model to a three-tier plan metered in AI-action counts. Most reviews haven't caught up — and one important thing its terms still don't say.

Jenni doesn't count words or credits — it counts AI actions. One accepted autocomplete suggestion is one generation; AI Chat messages and AI Edits are counted separately. The Free tier gives 10 autocompletes a day (resetting at midnight UTC), which is a real daily cap, not a monthly pool.
This is the shift most reviews miss. Jenni used to advertise a '200 AI words per day' free cap; the current model is '10 AI autocompletes per day' — a different unit entirely. An autocomplete is one accepted inline sentence completion, so the practical free allowance is about ten assisted sentences a day, plus a small one-time allocation of chat messages and edits that don't refresh.
Plus ($12/month) lifts that to 5,000 autocompletes, 500 chats and 500 edits a month; Pro ($29) makes autocomplete, edit and chat unlimited (PDF uploads stay capped). If a review tells you Jenni's free plan is '200 words a day' or that there's a single '$20/month Unlimited' plan, it's describing the pre-restructure model — the change landed around December 2025.

Two things Jenni doesn't tell you
Two honest gaps: the annual price isn't published anywhere we could read (it renders client-side, so we won't guess it), and Jenni's terms don't address who owns the AI-generated text. For an academic-writing tool, the ownership silence is worth knowing before you build a thesis on it.
On price: the monthly $12 and $29 are on the page, but the 'Save 60%' annual figure only appears after clicking the toggle, rendered by Stripe — it's not in the static page, a reader proxy, or archived snapshots. We could do the 60%-off arithmetic, but that would be our calculation, not a figure Jenni publishes, so we leave it out. Confirm the annual price in Jenni's checkout.
On rights: Jenni's Terms of Service simply don't say who owns the generated text — the 'non-commercial use' language in them refers to Jenni's own site and marks, not your essays, and there's no academic-integrity clause. That's neither a grant nor a denial; it's a gap. For a writing tool whose output ownership is explicit, Sudowrite states plainly that your writing is yours.
